Flutterwave Appoints New Board Members

Flutterwave, recognized as Africa's most valuable startup, has named Dipo Fatokun, a former director at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as its new board chairman, in a bid to reinforce higher regulatory, compliance, and governance standards.

With a wealth of experience as a board member and chair, Fatokun has served on over five boards in the past decade, including as the chair of United Capital’s audit and governance board.

During his tenure at the CBN, Fatokun spearheaded key initiatives such as the Cashless Nigeria Initiative, the Bank Verification Number (BVN) project, and the Treasury Single Account (TSA) for the Federal Government. He also played a pivotal role in automating foreign currency payments for the Central Bank's internal and external clients.

In addition to Fatokun's appointment, Flutterwave has appointed Tosin Faniro-Dada, a partner at Breega, an early-stage VC fund in Europe and Africa, as an independent non-executive director.

Olugbenga Agboola, the CEO and Founder of Flutterwave, emphasized the company's unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest regulatory and operational standards despite undergoing various organizational changes during its growth journey.

These appointments follow Flutterwave's recent addition of five new executives across its risk, compliance, and expansion departments, and the inclusion of Nigerian architect Olajumoke Adenowo as a new board member, all part of its efforts to drive international expansion strategy.
