The Climate Solutions Working for Africa

Germany's and Kenya's presidents have agreed to work closely together on climate protection, green energy and the exchange of workers, at talks held in Nairobi, Bloomberg News reports.

Speaking at a joint press conference last week, Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President William Ruto announced that #Kenya would join the Climate Club, an intergovernmental forum created by the G7 for countries committed to full implementation of the Paris Agreement. The visit reportedly reflected a push to draw in African countries into an alliance of democracies that wish to solve global warming.

Scholz suggested production of “green” fertilisers in Kenya could help reduce dependence on suppliers such as #Russia. “Fertilisers and green hydrogen could be part of a process where we’ll have local production of fertilisers in #Africa, for instance, so the continent isn’t so dependent anymore on the supply of one or two countries,” Scholz said.

What policies or solutions are working well when it comes to #climate change problems currently challenging African countries?
