Users will be able to access their accounts — much like they might access their phone — by scanning their finger or face, or using a PIN, Google says. Passkeys are also more secure than passwords because they use "cryptographic keys stored on your devices," making them resistant to phishing attacks, Wired notes.
Google acknowledges that "the change to passkeys will take time" and says traditional passwords will still work for now.
